Thursday May 21Space day will be a day of interactive, hands -on activities. We will have informal presentations, access to information booths LP, Moon related video and computer activities, and some dramatic demonstrations. We will also have scientists and other space professionals to answer any questions. This event is sponsored jointly by Ames Research Center, Lockheed Martin Missiles and Space and The AIAA. We invite you to participate in this event through this site! Whether it be tuning into our "Video Theater" on Space Day, or simply downloading the instructions for an activity that interests you and doing it at home, we hope to get you as involved as possible in this educational experience. The Event: 25 hands-on activities will form the core of the SpaceDay educational event. Each activity has been selected based on its science/educational value and its relevance to the Lunar Prospector Mission. The following set of topics organize the days activities: I. Encouraging an understanding of the basics of our solar system: how it is arranged, how it operates, and how we approach exploring it. II. The Moon and the Earth/Moon system III. Lunar Prospector, Launch, engineering issues, and the science experiments being conducted by the mission . IV. Some directions for the future of space science and exploration |
